The Discovery Commons focuses on education and outreach programming for the UW-CID. Public and private group tours of the Bullitt Center are offered through the CID’s Discovery Commons. Tours for the general public can be scheduled through the link to the left. For those looking for an in-depth understanding of the Bullitt Center’s technical features, technical tours are also offered. Finally, for those unable to attend any of the public tours, the CID offers virtual tours.

Public tours of the of the Bullitt Center are offered Tuesday, Wednesday, and Saturday by the UW Center for Integrated Design (CID), located on the ground floor of the Bullitt Center, 1501 E. Madison Street. Enter on the west side, adjacent to McGilvra Place Park. Tours will be lead by volunteer docents from the CID, a collaborative between the University of Washington Integrated Design Lab and the Bullitt Foundation.
Tours will begin in the exhibition space and will include the building’s mechanical and electrical rooms, the gray water and rain water treatment systems, non-flush toilets and the “irresistible” stairway.
Tours begin at 4 PM on Tuesday and at Noon on Saturday. Tours are limited to 20 people per tour.

Tickets are $5. As we are an educational non-profit organization, we provide building tours for a nominal charge to help offset the expenses to operate the exhibit and provide educational tours. We are not able to offer a wait list option.
